Service Learning Project Ideas

For Individual Students

We welcome students who are working towards completion of required service learning hours. Two weeks advance notice is requested. Students must be able to work 4-hour shifts towards their required hours on a mutually agreeable schedule.

Before reporting on their first day, students must perform the following:

• Let friends and family know they are volunteering with the Hawaiian Humane Society with a post to their Facebook, Twitter, My Space, by email or other social networks that they belong to. A print out of their message is required.
• Read our website and watch 5 videos on our You Tube Channel as they will be tested on their first day of service.
• Bring with them an item from our wish list each day that they report to the shelter.
• Sign up as a volunteer here.
  

Time spent on these assignments will be credited to their service hours.

For Student Groups

• Host a drive to collect pet toys, pet food, shoe boxes and more
• Put the fun in fundraising with bake sales, animal movie nights, car washes, recycling and more
• Create a video to promote animal welfare
• Start an animal cruelty watch as part of your neighborhood watch program
• Rally friends and wave signs at street corners
