Veterinarians islandwide are now providing the reduced-rate sterilization surgeries in partnership with the Hawaiian Humane Society and the City & County of Honolulu.

You can purchase sterilization certificates at any Satellite City Hall or the Hawaiian Humane Society from 11 am to 7 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 4 pm on weekends. Call 356-2227 during weekday business hours for a credit card form to get your certificate by mail. Or simply download the Neuter Now Certificate Request Form.

Call clinics in advance to check availability as some clinics may have limited availability for surgery dates and additional fees.

Since the start of the program, more than 180,000 families have benefited.

Cost is $40 for a male cat, $50 for a female cat, $125 male dog, and $150 for a female dog. EBT card holders pay $20 per cat or dog sterilization.

Developed in the 1980s, the program was recognized nationally for its unique public-private partnership in which government, nonprofit and for-profit veterinarians join together in support of pets and their families. The Hawaiian Humane Society manages the program at no cost to the City or taxpayers. Participating veterinarians throughout the island voluntarily perform the surgeries at significantly reduced rates, resulting in tremendous savings to pet owners while addressing pet overpopulation on Oahu.
