Found An Animal
It isn't always easy to determine whether an animal is lost or abandoned, but in either case, the animal needs your help. Sometimes pets are lost for a year or more before being reunited with their owner. It is only when a caring individual takes the time to contact us, that we can help bring pet and owner together again.
Often, we will be able to identify the lost pet immediately, especially if it is wearing identification. In cases like this, we can contact the owner and have them pick up their pet from you. If no match is made over the phone, you may bring the animal to our shelter or we will make arrangements to pick the pet up from you.
If an owner does not come to reclaim the animal and you are interested in adopting it, you will be given this opportunity first.
If the animal is loose:
It is important for you to have the animal tied or confined before you call us to pick it up from you. We have humane animal traps available for you. This is to help protect the animal and also to assure that it will be there when we come to pick it up. However, we encourage you to call us to report seeing the animal, even if you have not been able to secure it. If you feel safe approaching the animal, please confine or leash it in a humane manner.
